We've discussed about economic transition from agricultural to industrial to knowledge era. It was very interesting to know how people, technology, knowledge and everything advanced. And through these evolutions, the economy also adapt.
Learning these things made me understand the complexities of life nowadays compared to the way of life when I was younger.
It is indeed a time where people yearn for additional knowledge, innovation, automation and anything that is extraordinary and superior. We are very fortunate to live in this generation. Though I'm sure a lot from my generations were complaining with the fact that we suffered great deal with all the infrastructure development. (With all the traffic jam in Metro Manila, well it's still traffic until now). No cell phones, no internet, no 3D movies. I envy the youth as there are better roads now, transportation and communication is way too fast and it is even easier to travel and learn with all these "globalization stuff". I really cannot imagine what it will be in the next 10 years. Everything changes quickly and equally becomes outdated.
People at present are more conscious about health/vanity, winning and personality development. I believe it is because of the demand. Now, being a specialist with a particular work is inadequate to sell oneself and to be regarded and trusted. People also look on the way you live your life, on how you carry yourself and how you converse. I myself was in this realization that lead me to enrolling myself to a graduate school.
A total success would not come into a possession of an individual or business entity by merely having the capital, resources and labor. As a leader, I must equip myself with adequate knowledge to effectively perform my duties and undertakings. "Knowledge is Power!" ;-)

2nd Session Learnings
The lecture was very interesting last June 25. We tackled about our beliefs and knowledge about Organization and Management. It was to self-assess what we knew about the present practices of organization's top management and how organizations best operate. We were divided into 4 groups and we discussed about the different views we had with the subject matter. Each group has its own opinion and we had a deliberate debate. My sense of reasoning for one will surely be developed with this class since we are obliged to think logically and rationally.
I learned that most of what we believed to be true and right turned out to be different in reality as proved by surveys. Like leadership, being a member of top management and learning through my experiences I realized that I really need to update myself to the best present norm and practices.
I was really feeling guilty when I exerted most of my efforts in maintaining good rapport and business relationship with our customers and suppliers but now it became clear to me that it is of utmost importance for a leader to do such. According to our lecturer, most of the "nitty-gritty" things must be delegated to the rank and file and middle managers. It was a great relief learning this because now I know that I'm "Doing the Right Thing"!
Thanks MS Organization Management! I'm looking forward to attend the next meetings cause I know there is a lot in store for me to learn and to be more motivated.
